Championship division freestyles
Championship divisions are open to everyone of all ages and skill levels. Each contestant will perform a freestyle trick routine choreographed to music up to the following lengths in each division/round.
| 1A division (preliminary) | 1 minute |
| 1A division (final) | 3 minutes |
| Open division | 3 minutes |
- Each freestyle routine will be scored by a panel of judges according to the criteria defined in World Yo-Yo Contest 2025.
- In Open division, only ONE of 2A, 3A, 4A, or 5A styles may be performed in a freestyle. Each contestant will choose their style during registration. In each freestyle, any tricks of a different style than the registered one will not be scored.
- Contestants must upload their music of choice during registration.
Any form of swearing, slurs, obscenities, or hate speech are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
Junior division freestyles
Junior division is for young contestants who want to enjoy the fun of performing on stage without having to compete against older and more serious veterans.
In order to be eligible for Junior division, the contestant must be
- Aged 13 or younger as of March 22, 2026
- Had never advanced to 1A finals in any national or world level contests
- Not entering any Championship divisions above
The freestyle format is the same as Championship divisions above, but Junior division freestyles are up to 1 minute long, and only 1A style is allowed. The scoring criteria still follows World Yo-Yo Contest 2025 with the following modifications in order to emphasize the performance aspect of the competition.
- Technical execution (TE) and freestyle evaluation (FE) will each be 50% of the final score.
- Negative points in TE and major deductions will not count.
- In FE, only Choreography (MU1) and Body Control (BDY) will be counted
Winners of Junior division will not be seeded to Canadian Nationals 2026.
